RAI has been testing DRM via a transmitter in Milan on 693 kHz. This was co-channel with the Voice of Russia relay in Germany that is simulcasting on the same frequency for a long time but is now (2009) in the clear. This service is on air 24 hours per day.
In 2007 the old frequency of 846 kHz also started carrying DRM 24 hours per day from Santa Palomba with a power of 25 kW.
Raiway , the transmitter operator, started a 26 MHz service apparently from the Vatican City with 200W. This is a three channel multiplex using Mode A & 20 kHz: RAI Radio 2, Radio Vaticana in Italian are both encoded using AAC+ P-Stereo while Radio Vatican World Service is in CELP mono.
Radio Maria, an independent station is also testing DRM on 26 MHz.
