MORE DAB DEVELOPMENTS

Block 11A will be the national channel with some regional restrictions following co-ordination with France & Ireland. The former has TV transmissions affecting the south coast of the UK while the latter has TV transmissions in this band affecting Wales & Northern Ireland. Frequency block 10B will be used extensively except where it could interfere with transmissions from Ireland and Belgium. License announcements began in December 2006 and have mainly adhered to the published timetable. The advertisements for the latter half of 2007 were rescheduled. Some area names have been changed as has one frequency assignment as coordination with Europe has progressed.

L-Band usage should start to be licensed from late 2007 onwards but it may not use the Eureka 147 technology! OFCOM will consider other technologies such as DVB-H, which is a way of saying that there will be many non-audio services allowed in this band.
